Based on this poll, can somebody predict EB3-I movement starting Oct'2008?
The dates moved from Apr'2001 to Nov'2001 last year when EB3-I didn't recieve any spillover. So what would be the movement when new year starts?
I am hoping atleast it will move forward and not backwards....
Dec 2001 is my guess. Hopefully, it will continue to move as the year progresses...

I am an IV old timer and I was wondering where the IV old timers were?
black_logs, ragz4u. logiclife, waldenpond, berkleybee, shilpa?
How many core IV members have already received their GCs besides Aman, just curious?
Of late is there anything of note even happening on the lobbying front? IV seems to have become another Immigration Portal kinda website where people are now posting all sorts of info, some of it not even immigration related.
It would be nice if someone in the core team updated the rest of us, who cannot join the state chapters due to personal reasons on the website.
WaldenPond is too nice to answer your question. Personally, I wouldn't consider it obligatory to answer a specific question by someone who cannot volunteer due to "Personal Reason", whatever that may mean. If you cannot volunteer, cannot participate in IV's action items, cannot contribute, then you are most welcome to use IV's portal to get answers to your questions or get other kind of information - but do not expect updates from anyone as your right!
IV is not a top-down organization and if you think that it is becoming like Immigration Portal then partially it is due to people like you who do not want to participate but just want 'updates'.

The objective here is to add members; to acheive that we need get to the places where they go.
1. regularly visited websites
I am not saying we should advertise in Indian sites only. I am saying advertise in the sites where immigration applicants visit regularly.
Grocery stores & company HR sites are obviously other means to get attention of the immigration applicants.

Ok. But how does this apply to immigration?
On the page you quote, below is what I see -
The Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice enforces federal laws that prohibit discrimination in:
Education
Employment
Housing
Lending
Public Accommodations
Law Enforcement / Police Misconduct
Voting
The "per-country limit" is definitely unfair within the realm of employment-based immigration due to the outdated and irrelevant law which needs reform. However skewing this to make it a civil rights issue is pushing it a bit too much.
So coming back to Immigration (which is what, I believe, we are discussing), below is what I came across on congress.gov.
The Supreme Court has ruled that the Congressional power to regulate naturalization, from Article 1, Section 8, includes the power to regulate immigration (see, for example, Hampton v. Mow Sun Wong, 426 U.S. 88 [1976]
In other words, the Constitution does not specifically mention immigration but based on the above, delegates power to the Congress to pass laws to regulate immigration. This Article of the Constitution also clarifies the part about rules for immigrants and quotas being set at the Federal level and not State level.
The above is a fact, not my opinion. Therefore, No - I do not agree that your reasoning has any direct parallel to our case since the correct approach and reasoning involves challenging a Supreme Court Ruling on Article 1 of the Constitution, which you would agree is next to impossible.
There are far too many points here to address at one go. Let me touch upon this for starters:
The Article 1, Section 8 has this clause, regarding the power of congress:
Clause 4: To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization
Are we disputing the fact that congress has the power to establish a uniform rule of naturalization?
No. We are not. We are just saying, that the current Rule of Naturalization is in violation of the discrimination clause in the constitution, and ought to be disregarded. We are not asking to strip congress of this power, so this argument you make is not relevant. Agreed?
More later ..

very good... so accordingly to you these guys should be nice to everyone and not ever tell anyone to go away, must "behave" with self righteous people like you and i. even when someone continues to show the thumb and demand answers, someone else should always be on their best behavior, otherwise u will be turned off and not show "empathy" to these guys? is that what u just said? give me a break, we need to show "empathy" ourself before we can show "empathy" to someone else. how many u years r u waiting for green card? i had a chance to go on a conference call of anti-immigrants 2-3 days back, and posted here what i heard. while u and i continue to debate and set our reasons and bar before someone else will deserve your 'empathy', get ready to get your sorry ass kicked by anti-immigrants, i am sure those anti-immigrants will not show any "empathy" to anyone here.
so while we all want to "enjoy" the freedom to discuss "free" and freely, don't forget that every freedom comes at a cost, which it doesn't look like you are willing to pay for, right?
and what will we do "discussing" freely on this or any other forum, who cares what u say anonymously on a webforum. the way i see is, we want to continue to discuss, but "free" and "freely" before u and i some show some "empathy" , while someone else is working overtime to ship our sorry ass out of there, does that make any sense?
we all want to live in an advanced society but we don't want to think and be like one, lets just ask for "free" and "freely" discussion, because all that we want is "discussion".... and go to sleep
and then u say if something happens, it will for sure be because of some other organization..... u r truly a genius....

This might come as a surprise to some of you, but someone needs to say it out loud. GET A LIFE FOLKS!!!! there is more to life then EB, GC and all. it seem all we desi's can think of is how to get a green card so we can live here with peace and never have to worry bout getting laid off or anything.
Few points:
1) having gc is a privilege not a right.
2) US has every right to choose whom they want to have in their country.
3) If getting PR or citizenship of a western country is the goal there are many countries which have a fair point based system.
4) Considering the number of fraud's committed by Indian body shoppers and people who use them, i am not surprised USCIS is extra careful when it comes to Indian applications. Anyone who got his wife with no exp with software dev an h1b visa from some cheat in Jersey knows what i am talking bout . My freind got his wife an H1 after showing she knew software testing even though her major was fine arts and all she was good at was web surfing :)
5) have a back up. i came here in 2001 as student and have seen it all. I am on h1b since 2004. i knew we have too many people whose sole aim in life is a American GC. to avoid becoming one of those who check processing dates first thing in morning, i applied for Canadian PR, got it in 8 months and i am not even gonna bother applying for labor, i-140 and all those precious life controlling documents.
Wake up friends, you have options. Don't let your life depend on you application status.
Nitin
I would have taken it seriouly if you didnt spend six years in the US and did not run away to the Canada. Atleast if you gone back to india, it makes much more sense.

I suppose it would help if IV core team would discuss with members about their target contribution and percentage of goal already met. i know it might not be possible to give out the exact numbers but we can always have a percentage % on the site showing how much more is needed. This will also energize active and non active members and give them something definite to work towards..
Just my two cents!!!!

I am an early 2004 EB2 filer. I am hoping that mine would get approved at least before Oct. My EAD, AP, H1 and DL is getting expired in Oct. Glad to know that citizenship is making a difference in your life. I am happy for you. Good Luck
Thanks so much NKR.
I think, your GC approval should happen anyday. Wish you the very best!

Great idea. Since our recent flowers also ended up at the veteran's hospital, maybe we should wear yellow ribbons in support of troops?

I don't know why but we tend to be satisfied with lsmall benefits...
I agree with you "something (EAD and AP) is better than nothing"
But i bet you ..you will find your self in the same situation of agony and endless waiting for the final Green card.
I bet most of the people don't use your ead and AP as it puts you in a gray "Adjustment of status". They are good to have though. But you will see...how painful it is to decide to use them or not..
What i want to say is that being able to apply for EAD and AP is not the end of the battle..you will be stuck in a depressing situation waiting for the final green card. How do i know? .. I went through it...waiting for GC for the past 4 years.
I dont know its FBI or its just the USCIS incompetence but waiting in the final stage is horrible. Every time you travel you are scared...AP as for as my lawyer goes IT does not guarantee 100% entry in to the country.
After you apply for AP its only 1 year H1 increments.
What i am saying why dont we try for the overall improvement of the GC processing. Why dont we be firm about not wasting the GC numbers and recapturing the unused numbers.
We had a small revolt (peaceful way) and its successful. We dont want to stop there.
LETS FIGHT FOR THE OVERALL IMPROVEMENT OF THE GC PROCESSING
I hope you guys are with me..looking for your comments
Lets cross one bridge at a time. Who knows what favorable changes might happen in future.
