Friend
First of all, there is no typo, never he will say something not real.
Come on, it's not you and me stood up, spent personal time, sacrificed so much.
If you can not contribute for obvious reasons, no one is demanding you. I hope and sincerely wish that 'Aman' doesn't have to sell his house.
It's heart breaking to see such statements
Please dont post your own interpretation of the post that you read here..
I never suggested nor can even think that Aman would say something untrue..do you know the defination of "typo"..its a error in typing on the part of the writer not the subject fyi..
Please dont take text out of context...
Why have we started jumping at each other ! Can some members learn to show some tolerence and understand the context of the posts before joining the bandwagon of criticising.
but I am glad that because of the initial poster's message we came to know from Pappu about Aman's selfless act and what he has done for the organisation..Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Yes. I have sent money to IDBI through SBI. You have to give it a week. And I got better rate than promised because the day they credited to the IDBI account the exchage rate was better than the day I sent it. So I guess the reverse is possible too.
Lots of people use SBI for transfer but nobody answered my earlier question? DOES SBI allows electronic transfer to NON SBI accounts?

If USCIS decides to use the postmarked date as the filing date then it would be trickier for those whose PD was not current in June but have "filed" on June 29/30.
USCIS doesn't use postmark date. Don't sperad incorrect info and don't make other members anxious needlessly.
July 2nd filers are fine. Don't worry. Just wait for your receipt notices. We have been through a lot of stress in last month and its time to relax now (for those who already filed).

Older 2 & 3 were very subjective and controversial so I suggest removing them
Our letter is not about CNN hiring H1s, and lets be practical CNN is likely not to fire Lou Dobb, especially if we insist.
================================================== ====
The Chairman, CEO Time Warner Inc and Senior Corporate Executives.
Dear Mr. Parsons,
We are deeply disturbed by the false comments aired on Mr. Lou Dobbs' show, on your CNN network July 9, 2007. On his show Mr. Dobbs interviewed Rep Tom Tancredo(R), Colorado who claimed that H1-B workers overstay their visas and do not go back home.
Quoting Mr. Tancredo from your show: "H1-B visa is for 5 years" and "700,000 H1-B workers overstaying their visas"
Even though Mr. Dobbs did not make the comments himself he aired them on his show. This makes both CNN and Lou Dobbs liable for these irresponsible and incorrect statements.
Let us straighten the facts here for you on H1-B visas.
1) H1-B visa is issued for a maximum of 6 years in increments of 3 years. It is not 5 years as claimed by Rep Tancredo on Lou Dobbs show. Further, once the first stage of Green card application is been pending for more than a year, H1-B can be extended indefinitely beyond six years.
2) H1-Bs pay all types of taxes (Social Security, Federal, State etc.) from day-1. In fact, more than a 100,000 H1-Bs, have been working, paying taxes in US for 5-10 years, without even being a permanent resident. The issue of tax has been misreported on Mr. Dobbs show on multiple times.
3) Fewer percentage of H1-B s have overstayed their visas than the percentage of senators who have been guilty of taking bribes, or the percentage of journalists who have misrepresented facts!
4) Medical doctors, Researchers, Engineers, Bio-technologists, CEOs, CFOs you name it, a lot of them are H1-B visa holders. They are in demand in all industries. The shortage of high-skilled workers has in fact led Microsoft to plan the setup of a research center in Vancouver. But, thats another topic, and is not the purpose of our letter here.
Over the years, many of us have held CNN in high esteem for its journalistic capabilities, and we would still like to think of it is as the Most Trusted name in news. However, this issue is turning out to be a huge disappointment for the highly skilled legal immigrant community. We hope that CNN recognizes these errors and rectifies in a visible manner. If no action is taken, we are likely to think that CNN misreports in matters which are not so well known to us.
Sincerely,

There have been thousands of instances where applicants have been disqualified from applying for GC and even their H1B revoked when initial degree was found to not be related to the occupation - examples: B.Com, B.Sc (Bio, Geology..except Physics/Math), B.Arch.
USCIS is now very strict. :( -but for the betterment of the whole system.
It goes by how requirements were specified on LC. If you put proper wordings on LC B.Com, B.Sc. are OK for EB3 .
But for EB2 they want Four year degree for Indian graduates.

Hi hur11
Please let me know which category you have applied EB2/ EB3. Below is my qualification
Degree : B.Com ( 3 years)
PG : M.C.A (IGNOU - 3 Years)
Experience - 8 Years in India and 3 years in USA with different employer.
Thanks in Advance

You should not have gotton H1B visa in the first place, as H1b visas are for professionals and there are many professionals stuggle to get an h1b visas even after engineering degrees. In your case, IGNOU is a shame. Its worse than University of Pheonix. If you get a greencard in EB2, it will be a biggest mockery of the USCIS and department of labor.

First of all Congratulations desi#### and thanks for continuing to support IV.
Interesting discussion going on. Yes, I agree that most of us here are waiting for our GC and some of them go on to become US Citizens.
I believe that becoming a citizen of any country is a person's choice, so let us not give desi### a hard time here.:o
But I certainly do not think it is an 'achievement' to get a US citizenship, just because it implies indirectly it is an 'achievement' to let go off Indian citizenship. Nothing meant to offend you desi#### but it hurts when one reads such a statement somewhere deep inside the mind. But hey, as I said earlier, to each his own and noone should be judging others in their decisions.
And it is not only Indians becoming US citizens every year. There are others too.
Personally, even with all the advantages as stated above of being a US citizen, I will never let go of my Indian passport. Even if the authorities give it to me tomorrow in a lottery;) Never.
Why? Because my identity, my rich heritage, my family roots, my parents, my culture everything is Indian and am proud of it. There are lot of sentimental and emotional attachments. I was going through the OCI articles today after reading this discussion.
It is not exactly a dual citizenship. Some clauses are no voting rights! No Indian Passport!
Getting a GC is another thing, but when I decide to go back after a couple of years, I would definitely want to retain my voting rights. ! I rest my case.
I totally understand the emotional point of someone being want to be a Indian Citizen but I have to stress there is no other country in the world like U.S.A. This is the country where every human being is treated with utmost respect (don't try to show me exceptions - U.S. is a country where most of things are close to being perfect imaginatively), have freedom to say anything they want without getting intimidated and U.S is a country I believe will be the last bastion for humanity when terrosists/fundamentalists spread their tentancles and take over the world by force or other means (if not now probabbly in the next 100-150 years). Hypocrisy is relatively less. We Indians live in a dream world nurtured by the Indian politicians, who try to inject doses of patriotic non-sense into the masses while they themselves stove away million of dollars in Swiss banks. 70% of Indian population lives below poverty line and the educated masses of India think that their country will become a super power by 2020. Politicians like Mayawati play caste politics and dream of taking the top most post while our liberal media, without a wee-bit of shame, extends its highest support for them. Corruption is part of our daily life and we are part of the everyday corruption but we still find no fault in our society. Our population growth is beyond control while not a single politician is concerned about the stress it is going to create on our natural resources in the future. Our education system is in shambles but our great politicians fight for increasing the reservation system to different castes just for the sake of garnering more votes. And the list goes on. AlasGod help India.
FYI: I am a Indian and haven't even started my greencard process, for the same emotional reasons you mentioned, intending to R2I soon. Given a choice and circumstances, I would have opted for U.S.C as "I have no hope for this world neither do I wish for it" - quoting Bhagawan Krishna from Bhagavad Gita.

You are right.. I got a call this Wednesday from the Presidents office of initiating an inquiry on my case and again a repeated call from them on Friday that FBI Name Check has been cleared. I forgot to mention this detail in my excitement.
Thanks,
Donald Bradman
Congratulations!
Do you mind sharing some details? It would be very helpful to know if they only helped because your case was extraordinary in some way.
How long have you been waiting for the namecheck to clear? What country are you from? What did you say about the adverse effects on your life?
Thanks,

Slave,
It's oxymoronic to hear a self-confessed slave lecture us on 'Freedom'. Real freedom is standing and fighting for ones rights, and not hiding in a cave. How would a slave know?
'Red Dots' are also Free speech. Members who gave you one also used their 'Freedom of Expression' just like you ( did you think all freedoms are reserved for you ?).
FYI, I didn't waste any 'Red dots' on you. IV members are smart. They don't need to be guided by 'Red dots' to recognize an idiot. They smelled one the moment you opened your big trap door.
Yes! on IV you are supposed to say only good things about IV (though IV is "grass-root" non-profit) but no free speech here
You are only supposed to smell and sense good things about IV and hence write only good ... but god-forbid if you write truth then IV-watchers will try to ruin your "image" by giving RED dots (IV-mileage points) and make you feel bad-guy

if the transfer/extension of H1B gets rejected after travelled on AP, is it possible to move on EAD and continue working legally? I am talking worst case scenario here.
Although my lawyer confirmed that one can still have a valid H1B status after travelling using AP. My co-worder is still in doubt. Our corporate attorney seems to be clueless for this tricky situation.
Even USCIS is clueless. My feeling is that generally (about 70-90% time) they will grant the extension/transfer as it brings lot of revenue (fee) for them. But, if some officer may feels that, to seek the transfer cum extension one should be in same status. It is hard to convince them in case of RFE, as there is no specific memo/policy/regulation for this situation. It also fuels the natural doubt of the officer?. Why the AOS applicant entered on AP seek non-employment chage of status (instead of using EAD)? Using EAD and AP is simple and avoids complications in employment transfer. This is my view.
To answer your question, you can use EAD in case, if your H1B transfer fails.
